The Croatian Government decided in 2004 to privatize the company. The restructuring and modernization of its operations and support systems was and continues to be an essential part of the privatization process. Process Improvement and Document Management were identified as two areas for improvement and Meridio was selected as the Document Management system for storing and archiving key business information.
Meridio was initially integrated with Kofax Ascent Capture software for the scanning of paper documents and implemented as part of the business process relating to customer orders, contracts and technical and quality records. Having successfully used this system for several years INA decided to further expand the system to support the management and archiving of invoices. INA receives and processes approximately 500,000 invoices each year and needed a system to reduce the cost and time relating to this essential business process. INA use SAP Financial Accounting software and needed a system that supported the whole process from invoice scanning to final invoice approval.
INA is a vertically integrated oil and gas company operating in oil and gas exploration and production, refining and marketing of oil products. Its subsidiaries are engaged in LPG business, natural gas transportation and providing integrated oilfield services. INA is a medium-sized European oil company and a significant regional player. Statoil wanted a new enterprise Document and Records Management (eDRM) solution to replace Domino databases and Lotus Notes. It also wanted to improve collaboration with external stakeholders. Having considered solutions from Documentum and IBM, Statoil worked with Meridio and Microsoft to roll out its new program—Collaboration@Statoil—to more than 26,000 Statoil information workers. Statoil has consolidated all its records into a single repository, ensuring that previously hard-to-trace information stored in several locations could be located easily. Information workers are now much more productive and can share documents and data with external partners, regulators, vendors, suppliers, and other enterprises.
Benefits of the C@S solution include:
- Best practice for collaboration and information-sharing across organizational and geographical boundaries.
- Improved search and retrieval of information to ensure sharing and reuse.
- Limited duplication of data by making all relevant information easily accessible for teams.
- Delivering traceability as well as easy, correct and secure access of information through the information lifecycle and with respect to legal requirements.
Statoil, listed on the Oslo and New York stock exchanges, is a leading oil and gas producer, with more than 25,000 employees. Based in Stavanger, Norway, it has offices in 34 countries.
