Meridio is a privately owned company founded in 2001. Its investors include ACT Venture Capital, Polaris Venture Partners, QUBIS Limited, and Invest Northern Ireland. Meridio was built around the Products Division of UK-based software house Kainos Software Limited and the Document Management and Process Division of Teamware Group – a Fujitsu subsidiary.

Meridio was founded with the objective of becoming the leading software company developing enterprise Document and Records Management (eDRM) software for use on Microsoft® platforms and to take a visionary approach leading the market in making Electronic Document and Records Management (EDRM) software available as a mass-adoption option for organizations implemented enterprise-wide. Implementing eDRM had previously been seen as a major system project, which required organizations to address culture change, process redesign, significant new IT infrastructure development and implement a major training program. Standalone EDRM solutions have proven to be expensive, risky and often have failed to move beyond the pilot stage. Where they have, the business benefits resulting from deployment have not lived up to their promises. It was clear that a better approach was needed if EDRM was to move from being a pressing need for organizations to a technology that is proven and guaranteed to provide the potential benefits enterprise-wide.

In 2001, Meridio was certified to the UK PRO standard (which has been since renamed as TNA in 2002). Meridio 4.0 released in 2003 offered SharePoint as a client and added DoD certification, including the challenging Chapter IV option for classified processing. Meridio 4.4 added extensive features for Performance and Capacity, including Content Replication, ILM and a Microsoft SmartClient. The current release Meridio 5.0 focuses on deep integration that brings an improved user experience, new policy control, and continuous improvements in the areas of scalability, performance, collaboration and the end-user experience.

Meridio is now a leading global supplier of Enterprise Document and Records solutions. Meridio eDRM has won major awards at the Information Management awards in London including uniquely, Document Management Product of the Year in 2001, 2002 and 2003. In 2002 Meridio opened its first US office. Offices in Canada and Australia were opened in 2004.

Meridio operates an indirect sales model as most eDRM solutions are linked with Process Optimization projects. We have an extensive global network of system integration and software reseller partners. Meridio solutions are delivered by our Systems Integration partners. This allows us to focus on providing product and closely related services, leaving commercial relationships and broader services to our specialist partners.

The company headquarters are situated in Belfast, Northern Ireland with sales and marketing offices in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific. Meridio trades in North America as Meridio, Inc., – A Delaware Inc. wholly owned subsidiary of Meridio Holdings Limited. Meridio now employs over 160 staff.
